This is the assignment that COVID had coaxed into a solo project. We were forced to scrap WENDY and say goodbye to our group for a while. Wes, our instructor, met with us individually via Zoom and discussed our ideas.

Considering the lockdowns and social distancing, most of us were all on our own. That being said, the assignment was the same: “a short film/video up to five minutes long.” Below is my outline for the idea I had going in my noggin (it's a bunched-up outline in essay format).

If you have cringed through my terribly written outline, and poorly thought out narrative, you will now get the opportunity to view the final cut below…

The ending turned out VERY different than how it was written. My mom, Tammy, was played by my actual mom of course — and her time was limited. I had to re-write her to NOT physically be there for the ending. In my opinion, this actually turned out a little better than I expected it to. My girlfriend, Cat, was kind enough to assist with the production as well. She worked the camera (Canon T6 Rebel)while I fell like an idiot on my front lawn, and rummaged through the fridge like a drunk in the dead of night.

Waiting for my mom to waterboard me, again!

My brawny brain, Mom, and girlfriend all made it possible and I couldn’t thank them enough. I also would thank my instructor Wes for the guidance and SCC for providing me a place to hone my craft. I learned most of the production process firsthand. Ultimately, I got media to practice editing with!
